Week 13/Semana 13

Day 85:

I went to the feria and the mall. Beyond that I stayed home and watched Youtube.

Day 86:

Today at community services the kids painted bricks. My hands were covered in paint. I went to karate again this evening. They all wanted to know if I was going to participate, which I didn't. After class a black belt told me I had to get out there on Wednesday.

Day 87:

Today we went to the Museum of Pre-Columbian and Indigenous Art. For a country that claims not to have Indians there was sure a lot of stuff.

Day 88:
I pet campus cat, while he slept inside on the stairs.

Day 89:
Nothing new today.

Day 90:
I was the only one that showed up for Spanish class today. We still had a full hour and a half long class.

Day 91:
Beach day!

Why do they all hang out so close? There's a whole ocean ya crazy city people!

Día 85:

Fui a la feria y Punta Carretas. Más que eso, vi videos en Youtube.

Día 86:

En servicios comunitarios los niños pintaron los ladrillos. Mis manos estaban pintados. Fui a karate otra vez esta tarde. Todos quisieron saber si iba a participar, cual no hice. Después un cinturón negro me dijo que el miércoles tenga que practicar. 

Día 87:

Fui al Museo de Arte Precolombiano y Indígena. Para un país sin nativos había muchas cosas.

Día 88:
Toque el gato del campus, mientras dormía en las escaleras.

Día 89:
Nada nuevo hoy.

Día 90:
Fui la unica persona en la clase de español hoy. Tuvimos clase por una hora y media como normal..

Día 91:
¡Día de playa!

¿Por qué tan cerca? Hay un océano de espacio, loca gente de la ciudad.

Week 12/Semana 12

Day 78:
I did every kata I know on the beach while working on my sunburn.

Day 79:

I went to the beach this afternoon and had a nice walk. The weather was beautiful today. I went to check out a karate class this evening, but since it was a holiday here there was no class. I'll try again Wednesday or Friday.

Anybody else see the cow or deer in the ceiling or am I just crazy?

Day 80:

Today we went to the Soccer Museum. 

In the Estadio Centenario. The first World Cup was played here. Uruguay won.

Day 81:

Meeting for community service and Spanish class. I'm so exciting. 

Day 82:
Nothing exciting today.

Day 83:
I gave Eduardo a hair cut this morning.  I told him that I didn't know how. He said to learn on his hair.  This evening I went to karate. The katas aren't the same, but are very similar to my style. I understood the Japanese fine, but the Spanish was tricky. I'm going to go again and watch on Monday.

Day 84:
I was a bum all day and it was wonderful. I only left the house to help Laura take stuff to the baby shower.




Día 78:
Hice todas mis katas en la rambla mientras trabajaba en mi piel rojo.

Día 79:

Fui a la rambla y caminé. El tiempo era muy lindo. Fui a una clase de karate, pero hoy es feriado y no hay classes. Voy a tratar de nuevo el miércoles o viernes.

¿Puedes ver la vaca o el venado en el techo o soy loca?

Día 80:

Hoy fui al Museo de Fútbol

Día 81:

Reunión para servicios comunitarios y la clase de español. Soy tan interesante.

Día 82:
Nada interesante hoy.

Día 83:
Corté el pelo de Eduardo esta mañana. Le dije que no sabía cómo. Me dijo que puedo aprender con su pelo. Esta tarde fui a karate. Las katas son parecidas de mi estilo. Entendí el japonés, pero el español era más difícil. Voy a ir de nuevo el lunes.

Día 84:
Estuve perezosa todo el día. Solo salí para ayudar de llevar cosas al baby shower con Laura.

Week 11/Semana 11

Day 71:
I went to the feria and bought another Christmas present. Then Laura and I went to a different one and got food for the week. No pictures because of course I bought a Christmas gift and my hands were busy carrying food.

Day 72:
I was struggling to give commands to the kids at community services, so I reviewed them and practiced them over break. Today I was easily able to give commands. I slipped up a couple times, but at least I knew where to start this week. Also, hugs from little kids warm heart. We don't always understand each other when we speak, but everybody understands a hug.

Day 73:
Today I went to the Gaucho Museum. It was much cooler than the art museums.

Day 74:
I went with Eduardo to go play with the grand baby. Kids make me happy.

Day 75:
Today before class, my literature teacher asked me if I had understood the story we read. I told him that I hadn't. Later in class he asked who this unnamed character was. I answered that he was the devil. The professor looked at me confused and tells me I did too understand the story to know who the guy was because it was implied information.

Day 76:
My culture presentation is over maté. Only 7 more weeks left in Uruguay.

Day 77:
I ate an ice cream alfajor. It had dulce de leche ice cream in it.

And I played with this little munchkin.

Día 71:

Fui a la feria y compré un regalo de Navidad. Después fui con Laura a otra feria para comprar comida. No tengo fotos porque era un regalo y mi manos estaba llena de bolsas.

Día 72:

Tuve problemas en servicios comunitarios en las semanas pasadas con el imperativo. Miré videos y practiqué en mis vacaciones. Hoy era fácil para dar instrucciones. Olvidé pocas veces pero, al menos sabía como decirlas. Abrazos de niños me hacen tan alegre.  No siempre entendemos palabras pero todos entienden abrazos.

Día 73:
Hoy fui al Museo del Gaucho. Era mucho más interesante de los otros con arte.

Día 74:
Fui con Eduardo y jugamos con la nieta. Los niñitos me hacen tan feliz.

Día 75:
Hoy, antes de clase, mi profesor me preguntó si entendí el cuento. Le dije que no lo había entendido. Durante la clase él preguntó quién era el hombre sin nombre. Contesté que era el diablo. El profesor me miró con confusión y me dijo que sí entendí el cuento para saber eso porque era implícito.

Día 76:
Mi presentación cultural es de mate. Solamente 7 semanas más.

Día 77:
Comí un alfajor de helado. Tenía helado de dulce de leche adentro.
